Tales of the Myra Makes Launch Party

By Eliot Kersgaard

At our launch party in early June, about 6 families came to play Myra Makes activities at the Meadows Library in Boulder. We had six tables of activities set up (each one associated with a challenge page from Journey to Cloud City) and they were all full for a couple of hours! Here are some pictures of kids and their creations:

Our favorite story from the launch party, however, came after the event was over. One mom reached out to us to let us know that her daughter begged to make more challenge landscapes at home once after the event was over! We followed up with her a couple weeks later and it turns out that her daughter still plays Myra Makes regularly, coming up with her own character-based challenges and re-solving challenges from the book over and over again!

Her mom Gabi says:

“It was exciting for them to be presented with a problem out of the workbook, that helped them really start building some interesting problem solving skills. They had to figure out how to use the materials they were given to get the problem solved. The combination was most exciting for my kids.”

It’s stories like these that continually inspire us to do what we do! Do you have your own Myra Makes story? Let us know!
